Lauren's Blog: m.powerment by mark

As some of you may know, I teamed up with mark to launch the m.powerment by mark campaign in fall of 2008. The foundation was created to help educate young women about abusive relationships and how to seek help. It has reaised over $400,000.00 to date.

I have helped to create the mark "Have A Heart Necklace" and the new "Have A Heart Bracelet." These make great gifts!

Also, with the help of my makeujp artist Amy Nadine, I created two lip-glosses, the m.powerment gold and m.powerment peach shades. I love to wear the gold gloss over my lipstick to add shine or on bare lips.

To find out more, go to www.meetmark.com.
Pick up the necklace for $22, bracelet for $12 and lip gloss for $6.

100% of the net proceeds will be donated to m.powerment by mark.

Lauren Conrad: Seventeen Mag Make-Up Look

For Lauren Conrad's Seventeen Magazine cover look, I wanted to create her trademark California Glow, even though we shot it in November. So I used a foundation color one shade deeper than her skin tone, which can be tricky since it doesn't match, so I made sure to shade in her neck, chest and even her arms as well. I used mark cosmetics Speedway Foundation Stick in Honey with their Foundation Brush for her face then a large sponge everywhere else to save time by covering more area. Because Lauren doesn't like to wear eye shadow, I used the Speedway stick on her eyelids as well. Now that I made her face into a blank canvas, I had to go back and create dimension, so I contoured the hollows of her cheeks, temples, at the hairline and underneath her jawline with Speedway in Golden, a slightly darker shade than Honey. TIP: to find where your cheekbones are (mine didn't come in until I was 26!), suck in your cheeks like a fish, then contour slightly below where the bones protrude.

Next I used mark Just Pinched Instant Blush Tint in Peachy, a brand new color that they sent us that is amazing but not out just yet (sorry!). I applied it with mark's foundation brush on the apples of Lauren's cheeks. TIP: to find exactly where your apples are, simply smile in the mirror and they look like little cherries!

Now that all the cream work was finished, I powdered her entire face with mark Mattenificent Oil-Absorbing Powder in Golden Honey using a mark Powder Brush. Then I contoured and blushed the same areas again, this time using powder formulations. For the hollows of the cheeks, jawline, temples and along the hairline, I used mark Bronze Pro Bronzing Powder in Pro Golden with their Angled Contour Face Brush for better precision. I used mark Good Glowing Mosaic Blush in Chica on the apples of her cheeks with my favorite Kabuki Brush.

Of course then we lined her signature cat eyes with mark Get In Line Hook Up Waterproof Liquid Liner in Painted Black. If you have trouble or are intimidated, a great technique is to start with drawing the wing first by imagining a line from the corner of your lashline to the end of your eyebrow, then use that angle to start building your wing with small brushstrokes. Then go back and line your lashline starting at the inner corner. I followed with two coats of mark Make It Big Lash Plumping Mascara in Raven.

Finally I coated her lips with mark Dew Drenched Moisturlicious Lip Color in Mist followed by mark Juice Gems in Juicy HoneyDew.

Talking Beauty with Lauren Conrad

Sadly, we won't be seeing our girl Lauren Conrad on The Hills anymore--but she's hardly disappeared. As the face of Mark cosmetics, Conrad has been busy teaming up with her makeup artist, Amy Nadine, to create two lip gloss shades for the company. We talked with her about the glosses...and squeezed in a few other beauty questions too.

Tell us what you love about the Mark m.powerment lip glosses that you created.
LC: The proceeds benefit m.powerment by mark, the charity I co-chair that helps young women prevent and stop partner abuse. It's something I'm passionate about. Plus both shades look great on anybody! I love the Peach shade [above right.]

Moving on from lip gloss...what was the first fragrance you ever wore?
LC: Something I stole from my mom.

Your hair always looks great. How long does it take you to do it?
LC: I am actually a no-fuss girl when it comes to hair. I use Johnson & Johnson No More Tangles when I get out of the shower and then let it air dry.

Do you have any favorite time-saving tricks?
LC: A braid is always great for a bad hair day.

What's your favorite way to pamper yourself?
LC: I'm not really a spa girl, so a good day for me would be to work out, read a book, and spend time with friends.

Lauren Conrad For M.Powerment by Mark

Lauren Conrad has teamed up with mark to launch the m.Powerment by mark campaign, a philanthropic initiative committed to breaking the cycle of dating abuse and partner violence. Women the ages of 16-24 experience the highest rate of partner violence, and mark wants to change that statistic. Click here to visit the website and support the cause.

Want to show your support for this worthwhile cause? It’s as simple as purchasing the Have A Heart Necklace! 100% of the net proceeds will be donated to m.powerment by mark and it’s a stylish way to spread awareness. The Have A Heart necklace is available in a gold and silver and features a simple disc with a heart on one side and a flower embellished with crystals on the other side. What I love about this necklace is the simplicity. It can be worn as an every day necklace and will go well with just about outfit.

You can purchase the Have A Heart Necklace for only $22 through the meetmark website and through your mark cosmetics representative. Or you can make a monetary donation through the Avon Foundation.

Win A Lunch Date With The Lovely Lauren Conrad!

Admit it, you've always dreamed about having girl-time with Lauren Conrad. And now, you've got a chance to win a trip for two to Los Angeles for a one-on-one lunch with the head Hillzie herself! Plus, before your hang sesh with LC you'll get to stay at a fab hotel and go on a (fully funded) shopping spree on Rodeo Drive. That is, if you think you can handle it.

So what's the catch? We're not seeing one (at least, not without the help of our lawyers), but you gotta be a fan of mark-girl on Facebook to enter. So if you're down with that (yes, yes and yes!), go there to become a fan and submit your entry form, and then keep those fingers crossed!

The "Do Lunch With Lauren Conrad" contest runs now through September 9. Visit mark's Facebook page for full contest rules.
